That's all there is to importing slides from PowerPoint, here in Captivate. Of course you can take those click boxes out, add your own interactivity with buttons and so on if you wanted to. So it's a very simple course you're creating here in Captivate. Click box means a click box was placed over the entire slide, and that's what people are going to click to move from one slide to the next. And when you go to any of these slides, you'll notice right in the center, the words click box. The next thing you're going to see, down the left hand side in the film strip, is a thumbnail which represents each of the slides that was imported. Go ahead and click okay, and the slides get added to your brand new project. We'll leave it on mouse click, which means something's going to happen when we click okay. Click the drop-down to see that automatically is an option, and Captivate will automatically assign timings to each slide. Similar to what would happen in the PowerPoint presentation, you click your mouse, you move to the next slide. And then down below, you'll notice that the slides are going to advance on a mouse click. Click the drop-down, you'll see there's many to choose from depending on your intended output. You can adjust your width and height if you want to choose from presets you can do that. You'll notice the name of the file is going to become the same name as your PowerPoint presentation, in this case though with the underscore between Landon and hotel. So if there were any here that you didn't want, you could deselect them but I do want all of them here. Every one of them is checked off or included in what's to be imported. You'll notice that the slides appear, in a preview thumbnail. And that's exactly what's going to happen here in Captivate. Let's just keep in mind that your PowerPoint presentation probably went from one slide to the next to the next. So selecting the name of the file with the ppt extension, and clicking open is going to bring those slides in. And if you use PowerPoint, you know you can take your newer file format and save it back to this version. In fact, if you have the newer extension pptx, automatically Captivate's going to convert them back to this older format before they're imported into your new project. Notice the extension is ppt, not the newer version pptx. I have one here for you called Landon_Hotel0201. Let's go to the chapter two folder of your exercise files if you have 'em. Now all you need to do is browse to the location. Clicking this is going to allow you to select the presentation you'd like to import when you click create. You can see I'm still at the start screen here, and one of the options is from PowerPoint. That's what we're going to do in this movie. Well if that's your scenario, the good news is you can get a good headstart by importing those PowerPoint slides into a new Captivate project. However, linking to internal document require more steps.- For many people who've never used E-learning software like Captivate in the past, typically use PowerPoint slides to deliver training.
